Translated 9, the sailboat representing Translated in the Ocean Globe Race, has just rounded Cape Horn, conquering the "Everest of sailing" after three days of battling 50-knot winds, 10-meter waves, and the threat of a "perfect storm."
The Ocean Globe Race is a round-the-world race celebrating the 50th anniversary of the first Whitbread Race by limiting the number of professional sailors on board and the use of technology to that available in the 1970s.
This extraordinary feat underscores the meticulous preparation and teamwork that Translated put into assembling the crew and preparing the boat. CEO Marco Trombetti's visionary decision to put his trust in a team of young people with exceptional values and the right attitude has been rewarded by this achievement. Having started out as an underdog, Translated 9 is now leading the third leg of the Ocean Globe Race after winning the first two legs.
In the weekly video message permitted by the organizers, Marco, who is on board as co-skipper despite being new to sailing just 3 years ago, emphasizes the importance of perseverance and believing in your dreams.
